Shopsmart with JEA offers homeowners discounts on HVAC maintenance that can improve your current unit’s efficiency or the purchase of a new HVAC system, if you are in the market to upgrade to a more energy-efficient unit.
Benefits of HVAC Maintenance
- Maintaining HVAC equipment prevents future problems and unwanted costs.
- Coils are cleaned. Dirty coils reduce your system's ability to cool and cause the system to run longer, increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment.
- Refrigerant is checked and adjusted if necessary. Too much or too little will make your system less efficient increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment.
- The blower is cleaned and adjusted. Improper airflow can reduce your system's efficiency by up to 15 percent.
JEA Rebates
HVAC Replacement and Maintenance Tax Rebates
If system replacement increases energy efficiency beyond the standard code required of SEER 13, replacement could qualify. Rebates increase as the level of the energy efficiency of the system you choose increases.
- Up to $500 on a new energy-efficient central air conditioner
- Up to $450 on a new air-source heat pump
Homeowners may receive a rebate for standard maintenace and service once every three years. Other rebates include interior and exterior coil cleaning.
- Save $75 on your annual system maintenance checkup
Duct Repair Tax Rebates
Three levels of duct repair qualify for rebates up to $150 depending upon work done:
- Tier One: Minor repair up to three sections
- Tier Two: Moderate repair up to 50 percent of existing duct system which may include resealing
- Tier Three: Full repair up to 100 percent of the existing duct system including resealing.

3. The JEA rebate will be clearly indicated on your invoice as a deduction from the total price including installation.

JEA Financing Coupons
JEA knows that needing and wanting to make home energy upgrades is one thing. Paying for those home investments is another. In an effort to help homeowners improve energy efficiency, JEA, through a federal energy efficiency grant*, has partnered with local lending institutions to offer low interest financing on these Shopsmart with JEA home energy upgrades.
Financing Available
Participating lenders are working in partnership with JEA together to make Jacksonville more energy efficient.. They have partnered with JEA to offer low interest rate financing on qualified upgrades. They will be providing low interest EE loans for qualified EE measures for JEA customers. For a full list of eligible measures, click here.
- Residential loans may range from $5,000 to $20,000.
- The program will provide a six percent (6%) reduction in the interest rate for the loan you receive.
- Term of loans shall be less than the life of the measure and not to exceed 10 years.
